Rose's Halo is a light and sound installation that portrays the enchantment springtime brings and which the public could experience on multiple levels.
Through the installation of bunches of glowing red roses Aether & Hemera intended to create an engaging and poetic artwork, interacting with viewers' emotional perception. Walking along the bushes viewers could hear different voices evoking the original Latin names of the different species of roses planted in the garden; this suggested to the more sophisticated viewers a connection to the everlasting flow of time, the fragility of nature’s beauty and the unique ability of the mankind to preserve it in our culture through words and memory.
A medieval idea still powerful today and made popular again from the last line of “The name of the rose”:
Stat rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus. (U. Eco)
